Poodle of the Year 2015 UK

Poodle of the Year 2015 UK

This contest was first held in 2011 and has been held annually since then. Results and videos of the previous contests can be viewed here. Photos of the 2015 Contest are available here.

16 dogs are invited to compete in each Contest which is judged on a Match format by three judges who will remain undisclosed until the day. The 'best of three votes' go through to the next round until a Winner and Runner-Up can be declared in each Section. The ultimate title 'Poodle of the Year' will be selected from the Winning dogs from each of the three variety Contests.

How is the AUSTRALIAN CHAMPION title attained?

A Poodle needs to win 100 Challenge Points at championship shows. The winner of BEST DOG (Challenge Certificate) is awarded 6 POINTS + 1 POINT for every dog beaten that is over 6 months of age. The winner of BEST BITCH (Challenge Certificate) is awarded 6 POINTS + 1 POINT for every bitch beaten that is over 6 months of age. Best In Group or Group 1st winner receives 25 POINTS.

How is the GRAND CHAMPION title attained?

A total of 1,000 Challenge points.

How is the SUPREME CHAMPION title attained?

1,000 Challenge points, including 3 All Breeds Best In Shows OR 10 Best in Group/Specialty Best in Shows; all wins under different judges.

"Boy With a Poodle"

This early painting of a Poodle by Michael Collins is titled "Boy With A Poodle", circa 1940. It is a photomontage with oil on panel; visible image 11.6 x 16.9cm., in frame 12.8 x 31cm. The work depicts a boy with a clipped show poodle in the foreground of an early Sydney landscape; it accompanied an article by the famous Australian artist and writer Donald Friend (1915–1989) to illustrate the article by Friend on Australian colonial primitive art published in 'Christian Science Monitor 1940'.
